Scheduling with full MRP
|
Scheduling uses MRP (Materials Requirement Planning) and the stock order control system and to build a production schedule. The production planning system doesn't require specialist knowledge to run. Scheduling is based on lot for lot sizing as a rule (it will only order exactly what is required). However, requirements can also be allocated to orders already placed within the stock order control system. Efficient batch sizes are mainly generated by using the stock order system. Unlike many finite scheduling capacity systems, the finite scheduling and MRP scheduling have been brought into a single, simultaneous process. The benefits of this go towards removing reducing "bottlenecks" that are inherent in a production schedule. By utilising a combined approach, a marked improvement over running finite scheduling on a single work centre or localised shop floor operations is achieved. The master schedule can also be improved by analysing key performance indicators like Waiting Time. Improvements to the manufacturing schedule can be made by applying extra resources or capacity at specific points. |
